Students and Mr. Marks posing with equipment

Coemerica is banking that its investment in honoring a UCS teacher will pay countless dividends when it comes to student health and wellbeing.

Representatives of the bank visited Collins Elementary Tuesday to surprise physical education teacher Troy Marks with more than $3,000 in donated physical education equipment as part of its “Thanks for Teachers” program.

Mr. Marks was one of three Metro Detroit teachers honored through the on-line recognition program. The Bank received more than 100 nominations.

“We wanted to do this to make sure the students had what they needed and to say thanks to Mr. Marks for all of his hard work,” a Coemerica representative told students at an assembly to announce the award.

Donated materials featured physical education equipment, such as plastic hockey sticks, rubber balls, basketballs and plastic bowling equipment.

The supplies will be used at both schools where Mr. Marks teachers – Collins and Messmore Elementary Schools.
